Tips for using your handmade candle to the fullest
Share
Handmade candles are delicate objects, carefully crafted to provide a moment of relaxation and well-being. To get the most out of them while ensuring safety and durability, here are some simple but essential tips to follow.
1. Let the wax melt evenly when first used
When burning for the first time, allow the candle to burn long enough (approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on the size) for the entire surface of the wax to melt. This prevents a crater from forming in the center and prolongs the life of the candle.
2. Trim the wick before each lighting
Before each use, trim the wick to approximately 5 mm. A wick that is too long produces a high flame, black smoke, and causes the wax to burn too quickly.
3. Avoid drafts
Always place your candle away from drafts to avoid uneven burning and wax spills. This also helps ensure even fragrance diffusion.
4. Never leave a burning candle unattended
It may seem obvious, but it's essential to never leave a room with a lit candle, and to always extinguish it before going to sleep. Keeping it out of reach of children and pets is also essential.
5. Extinguish the candle properly
Use a snuffer or gently dip the wick into the melted wax with a suitable utensil, then straighten it. This prevents black smoke and prolongs the life of the wick.
6. Respect the maximum burning time
Do not let a candle burn for more than 4 hours at a time. This prevents the container from overheating and preserves the quality of the fragrance.
7. Stop using when 1 cm of wax remains
When the bottom of the jar is near, extinguish the candle. This prevents the heat from damaging the container or the surface it rests on.
With these simple steps, your Oléria Home handmade candle will diffuse all its fragrance and safely illuminate your sweet moments.
Take care of your candle… it will take care of you.
